She

She was ambitious. She wanted to fly high and touch the sky, hover around and glide in the rainbow besides. Little did she know what the outer world aspires to. She was busy in her own world while still in her childhood. She used to gossip, crack jokes and eat a lot. Her only two years elder brother was fairer than her. And for this, she used to quarrel with her mother. Mother, why is brother fairer? Her mother secretly proud of his son’s fairness find this appreciatory, although, somedays worried about her query. There used to be a nod ahead but no answer and a puzzling face. This has no easy answer.

Although his brother had lesser acumen than her, somehow he saw more opportunities in front of him than she, in front of her. Her father used to see her as a gift to be given at a later age, but, she was her father’s daughter. Her father just wanted to send her off with an extravagant ceremony to be thrown at her marriage. He used to say that this is his long-cherished dream. He had been working, saving enough, and sweating hard to achieve this dream. This was one of his ways of showing love. Tradition approves of this. To make her dependent on others. To not make her full. To not let her fly.

Should the father be condemned? Her father carries bruises in his heart. He cares for her... He feels bound by the ungiving social customs. No clue of the possibilities, no daring of doing never been done before, father is afraid for the kid..?

She has joined her college and has started to study. She is more sensitive as she grew older and into her adulthood. She was talking lesser and thinking more, observing more. The world outside doesn't seem to be the one she grew up imagining. She was always worried. She was worried that her college is not offering her the quality of education she deserves and interestingly no one cares. She is constantly stalked for her sexuality. She cares for her future, for her dreams. It doesn’t matter to her parents. They are waiting for her to graduate. They have been wildly searching for a groom for her. She has to be sent off before she crossed a credible age. The yet to graduate girl is seeing her dream melt along with her heart. She is desperately trying to hold them up, trying to stay stronger, trying to act stronger, mostly with frequent teary eyes.

Why is that girls has to marry off into other house and then follow all the rules and regulations in a complete, new and strange world. Why is our society so radical with respect to women? Why is that only she has to toil and man to cherish on her behalf? I wonder...

She resides in every other house. May be next to you, suppressing her inner thoughts. Well, I wish her strength and I believe in her. Everything will be fine.
