India is Secular or not

This is quite a high time for the Indians and especially the one belonging to the religion Hinduism regarding the communalism that is being propagated across India by none other than our own politicians. Today Mr. Subodh Kumar, Inspector from Bulandseher was killed when a mob erupted over the news of some cow lynching. This is saddening. Soon thereafter CM of UP Mr. Yogi sanctioned 50 lakh rupees to his family. Yesterday Mr. Amit Shah was heard firing during a campaign something about Masjid and Mandir which is communal in nature. While it is not the first time he has done this. Time and again it has been reported from a vivid section of media how they provoke religious sentiments in the campaign. This is dirty politics. There are some basic questions in front of all of us. What are Fundamental Rights? How much are our administrators, our political leaders sensitized with respect to maintaining the sanctity of it? Is our society a class-based one? Why is that Indian Police force act as a mere puppet when these leaders provoke communalism and wander freely? Is India thus truly secular?

The issue of cow lynching is a new phenomenon and there some section of people who act as vigilantes and thus take law and order in there hand. Shocking is that it is allowed and not much is done to avoid such situations. To add salt to the wound, politicians still play the religion card in the campaign. Recently Vishwa Hindu Parishad has done some drama in Ayodhya and quoted much dirt. Shiv Sena chief and their supporters full in the train from Maharashtra came to Ayodhya, again did some drama. The point is they are safe back in their haven, what about the public whose sentiments they went touching upon? Will these people just listen and ignore? Won’t they process this and make something out of it? Is it not dangerous? This indeed harms the secular fabric of our nation. Still, Allahabad has been renamed as Prayagraj, Faizabad as Ayodhya, and Gurgaon as Gurugram… After the tallest 3000 Crore Statue of Unity, UP government has sanctioned an even taller statue of Lord Rama. Also, the Karnataka government is on the verge of doing something like this. Where are we going with all this taxpayers’ money? How authentic are these indirect representatives of India’s democracy to the Indians?

#RIPSubodhKumar, one in many martyred. Whose hands are red? Who is accountable? It is time to think… Wake up India!
