Devkund trek & ride from Mumbai

It was a 140 Km one way ride from our place at Mumbai to the devkund trek. It was a random plan. Instead of continuing on the ride at the highway, we decided to head here. It was through the panvel, towards the Mahad that one way turns to devkund. This same place is nearer from Pune as well.

A white fog was meditating over one of the hills around. Stopping out bike at the sides, we stood over a thin water brigde. The sky was cloudy, painted with a little blue shade in dilution. A river channel was below us through which a much transparent water was flowing in child-like agitation. It's nascent. Compared to the rivers in the central India, should I say that these are short lived, that they would meet their destiny earlier - The ocean... This is west India!

It didn't rain all the way till now. It's the fourth week of june. The IMD had predicted that it's a surplus monsoon this year. Now there are quiet headlines about deficient comparisons. It's still the first month. We have July, August and September waiting for us. These four months are the months when the south-west winds carry warm winds inside Indian territory.

We walked towards the kund where there is a water fall. If I may say, that's the sanctum sanctorum of the forest. This was my second visit. I had the younger reconciliation of my older self... I got mesmerized with the thoughts that I carried while trekking it the first time. It was humid. We were little late. After 4 PM, as darkness covers down the forest, entry would be restricted at the kund for your safety. Remember, it's a jungle.

We walked for 2 hours. There was more plain than the slopy areas. But there are rocks and pools that you need to watch while walking over. There was a natural lake that was lush in beauty. People who are back in the way looked happier and calmer as well. As we neared the kund, we heard people in the area. They were all excited. We could hear the fall as well. It was great as we rushed aheas. The kund would be formed over the years when the water falling over the rocks would have disintegrated the rock and making a pool there.

Except few, wcouldn't take pictures as there was rain on & off. No sooner, we bathed inside the cool water of the kund and all our pain was consumed. We were feeling sacred and that as if we achieved something. It was adventurous. We laughed. It was fun. The greenery surrounded us. Nature was happier here. We were blessed. After a plentiful bath, it was already time to leave.

Rain was there. We walked for two straight hours in the rain. As time passed, so did the eve. Throughout the way, we could find people who would accompany you. It's nice as some of us could be naively lost and feel panic. I also found several plastic thrown at the sides. It broke the heart. There were water bottles, chips and biscuit packets. This shouldn't be acceptable to anyone!!

As we made to the exit near the spot where our bike was parked, we took time to relax and dress up in the raincoats before it's time for the departure...
