Deeds and not birth

The chaturvarna system, as it exists in India and continues to do so except maybe in big cities where it is losing ground in the open space, in the rural areas, it is still significant. In the Bhagavad Gita, which is the source of the caste system in India, it is mentioned that Brahmins form the intelligent class, by deeds and not by birth! Vaishyas form the trader class, again by deed and not by birth and so on. The fact that the system is made rigid and the silos are divided among the castes so much so that no movement can take place between them is an act of the mischievous human. This is conflicting in itself, besides it had been a source of domination. In the current times, it is a source of hypocrisy and a political tool. Politicians make full use of this to get votes and it is universally known to everyone. People reverberates this rigidity as they do not want to change their status; the status came from the prevalent inequality, from hailing a caste against another.

A few months back Twitter CEO was captured with some Indian women journalists and they happened to carry a pamphlet propagating the end for Brahmanical domination. The Brahmins from the rigid silos erupted to this as it created insecurity among them. Our surname is just ancient and is of no use in the present context except that it is a source of division. The system of reservation is yet another ghost that will continue to help to maintain this stereotype for ages to come, for the newborn for the youth, for the age-old… It is a fact that society is run by goons who want to dominate and is against changing the status quo. If it is not so, let deeds prevail.
