Mob lynching & Police

The recent mob lynching case at Manipur involving a victim of 26 years of age who was an MBA from Bangalore & has been an entrepreneur running his own beverage company is shocking as the video of his brutally beaten, injury covered body lying conscious and in pain, surrounded by “sight-seeing” crowd and chattering like flies. This all has happened in the presence of police personnel in uniform & carrying their weapon. Should civil mob be allowed to take such severe measures at the pretext of maintaining law and order & doing justice themselves? Why have people resorted to such violent & horrific measure? Is it something related to the religion of the late, which belonged to the Muslim community? Are not people feeling safe in the hands of the judiciary? How to take into the accountability of the police personnel before whom the cruelty was spat? Why did they not act? Are they incapable of the responsibility they are assigned to? We need not remain puzzled with all the...

Myth I believed, Myth other students believe

Today I was talking with my younger sister in the 9 th  standard. We were discussing regarding her studies. Later I told her about my own study plans to which she surprisingly said, “Till when are you going to study?”, “you will get old doing studies”, and “you have now got the job, why are you leaving it?”… I had similar questions in my mind when I was younger, perhaps at her age. I had the statistics that by 25 I will have a job & afterward I will work for a good 30 years before my retirement. I used to look at students doing their PhDs, postgraduates or studying for some other competitive examinations & think that they have been studying since so long & it is futile for them to study till age 30. When will they work & start to earn?! Because the statistics worked simply for me, “more the time one works, more the money one earns". I never cared about the ownership and internal satisfaction which is a playful factor as well. There are people who work half-...

Future cant be foretold

Life is a complex thing. No one can certainly tell you what lies in the next second of your life. There can be a vague prediction and those are of no use. First of all, why do we need to foresee our future? What is making us lead a journey of luck sharpening instead of skill sharpening and a focused, purposeful life? Is it money disguised as a successful future? I used to be quiet confused with the subject if money is the sole thing to acquire, in order to acquire success. It is not. There is the internal satisfaction that matters more than anything. I don’t know if the soul exists or not, or what soul is, or its connection with after birth. I do know one thing that there is consciousness at different levels. The more I introspect, the more I transact from the outer atmosphere, the more I open myself keeping aside all kind of ideologies, I know that I will increase my consciousness by expanding my knowledge base & with the help of emotions. I belong to a Hindu middle-class fam...

India on cycle

On one side when there is high volatility of the face value of depreciating Rupee with a frequent upsurge in the global market, it is a cause of worry to the Indian diaspora and to the developing and maturing market with regards to the future of the nation. It is likely that not only structural but societal changes are necessary to promote a strong economy and a country which can take the load of the unstable geopolitics. We all know that rising fuel prices affect the majority of the economy. Government is trying to look forward to the renewable energy means which is a good sign. But it is said that prevention is better than cure. Renewable technology will come with its set of challenges e.g. we are unaware of its pros and cons because it has not been implemented yet and is least available, it will take a huge toll at the exchequer because we have no ready infrastructure for the same and at the end of the day the rising demand of energy may subsume the energy potential from renewable...
